Browlift
Description
A browlift raises the eyebrows and upper eyelids to soften frown lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows. This procedure softens the angry or tired look caused by a wrinkled brow. Most browlift patients are between ages 40 and 60 years old.
Length
The browlift surgery takes 1 to 2 hours.
Side Effects
Browlift can cause temporary swelling, numbness, headaches, and bruising. Possible itching and hair loss may result from the traditional method.
Recovery
After a browlift, you can be back to work in 7 to 10 days (usually sooner for endoscopic browlift method). For strenuous activity after a browlift you must wait several weeks. Full recovery after a browlift is abut 2 to 3 weeks. Limit sun exposure for several months.
Risks
Browlift can cause injury to facial nerve, which may result in loss of movement. Also, a possible reaction to anesthesia and risk of asymmetry. Formation of a broad scar and hair loss along the scar edges are rare with browlift.
Results
The results of a browlift usually lasts 5 to 10 years.
