Advanced liposuction can change your life.

Over the years liposuction has changed dramatically—it is no longer just about removing fat. It is about sculpting the target areas, and in some patients performing tightening procedures with BodyTite and Morpheus. At Austin Plastic Surgery Institute, we perform body contouring with liposuction, combining volume reduction with skin retraction. Power assisted liposuction with SAFE lipo is an expression that stands for Separation Aspiration and Fat Equalization. It is very safe, allowing us to maximize fat removal and reduce the risk of asymmetry or any potential irregularities, problems that were fairly common with older lipo systems. We combine liposuction with BodyTite and Morpheus treatments to significantly improve the outcome of the liposuction and tighten the overlying skin.

Body sculpting at its best in Austin, TX

No matter how often you work out, or how carefully you watch your diet, your body may be programmed to store fat on your abdomen, flanks, thighs, buttocks, back, upper arms, or in visible areas beneath your chin and on your upper neck. If you are one of the millions of people who dream of losing the fat in these areas, liposuction may be the answer you are looking for. It is still one of the most commonly performed surgeries in plastic surgery. While this treatment has been used for decades, the technology has advanced significantly to produce amazing results. At Austin Plastic Surgery Institute, we perform custom liposuction and body contouring treatments to help our clients have a more sculpted, refined look – and they love the results!

The answer to stubborn fat is here.

If you are tired of living with stubborn fat deposits that won’t disappear, liposuction at Austin Plastic Surgery Institute can restore your confidence in your figure, creating a sculpted, elegant look, with fatty zones just a memory. When liposuction is combined with BodyTite and Morpheus treatments, the results are dramatically enhanced. The targeted radiofrequency energy sandwiches the treatment of the skin from the outside and the inside to tighten the skin while removing unwanted fat.

Am I a candidate?

The best candidates for this treatment are unhappy with fatty areas on the body, and have reasonably firm, elastic skin. They are at a healthy body weight, are in good general health, and over 18.

What areas of the body can custom liposuction slim?

Our advanced liposuction treatments are geared to treat several areas of the body where fat lingers, including:

  • Arms
  • Back
  • Love handles/flanks
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Double chin
  • 360 degree liposuction

What is the treatment like?

Our liposuction treatments are performed in our surgery center, where patient safety and health are always a primary concern. The area to be treated will be numbed with tumescent solution and it is almost always done under general anesthesia for the comfort of our patients. The areas to be slimmed are carefully marked, and our board-certified plastic surgeon carefully moves a cannula (thin hollow needle) back and forth beneath the skin, suctioning away the fat cells in the treatment area. Once complete, the treated area will be protected with a compression garment, and you are free to return home to rest and recover.

What is the recovery after liposuction?

You will have prescription pain medication available should you need it to keep you comfortable in the first phase of healing, which is about four to seven days. It is normal for the area treated to feel sore, but you have no limitations. Lymphatic massage is highly recommended to help clear the normal postoperative swelling. We monitor your progress, with several follow-up appointments in the year following your liposuction treatment. As any residual swelling fades, your new sculpted figure is revealed. It may take several months for the final results to appear. The scars where the cannula incision enters are placed in inconspicuous areas and are very small and will fade to being virtually invisible over time.

What can 360 degree liposuction treat?

Areas for this treatment can include upper and lower abdominals, the flanks (love handles),  bra roll and upper back, inner and outer thighs and arms. If your skin has diminished elasticity, BodyTite and Morpheus can be applied to stimulate skin tightening. The combination of liposuction’s volume reduction along with BodyTite skin tightening delivers an amazingly synergistic result.

360 degree liposuction – a groundbreaking approach to body sculpting.

360 degree liposuction is an all-inclusive procedure to contour and shape the entire midsection and waistline, front and back. This approach allows you to slim away fat around your entire body, successfully, with beautiful results.

Double chin? Submental liposuction.

Submental liposuction is liposuction of the neck and jawline to remove localized fat deposits. This procedure can improve the contour of the neckline and jawline for a more youthful, refined, rejuvenated appearance. This procedure is combined with FaceTite and Morpheus8 treatments to achieve the optimal results.

What are the types of liposuction?

Tumescent “super-wet”

Tumescent liposuction is a common approach used by surgeons. It is a suction-assisted (SAL) form of lipo that first injects a liquid agent into the area to be treated. The liquid agent includes saline, Lidocaine (a numbing agent) and Epinephrine (a medication that controls bleeding). A cannula is then inserted and passed through the fat deposits, suctioning them away. An attached power-aided motor allows the surgeon to control the speed of the fat removal, which can be as great as a few pounds or as little as several ounces.

SAFELipo

One of the most exciting advances in liposuction is SAFELipo. Dr. Wall popularized the technique. The technique involves the use of Power Assisted Liposuction (PALS) to emulsify and liquefy the fat so that it can be more easily removed. This advanced approach is far less traumatic and gives a smoother contour, with fat removed and better results. The SAFE aspect of this treatment differs from other types of liposuction; it allows for refinement of results at the end of the procedure, so that fewer irregularities and a smoother contour is achieved.

How long will my procedure take?

Liposuction is performed under general anesthesia in an accredited surgical facility and is an outpatient treatment. Each area of the body, such as the tummy, thighs, or other area, will require about 30 minutes to complete.

Liposuction FAQs

How safe is lipo?

The media sometimes tells stories of liposuction patients who have endured bad results at the hands of inexperienced surgeons. Today’s liposuction techniques are much safer and more predictable than ever before, but surgeon skill remains the number one factor when researching this procedure. The goal is to attain a natural and smooth result. An experienced surgeon will be able to provide this outcome.

Do the results last a lifetime?

Fat cells that are removed during liposuction do not come back. Unfortunately, patients can still gain weight after surgery because the remaining cells can expand and become larger. However, patients who adhere to a healthy diet and exercise program will continue to see results years after surgery.

How much fat can be removed?

The amount of fat removed really depends on the size of the patient and their aesthetic goals. From a safety standpoint, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends roughly 4 liters of fat or less. More than 4 liters is considered a high-volume liposuction, which presents an increased set of risks. It’s advised to achieve an ideal weight before undergoing a liposuction procedure.

What about loose skin?

Liposuction is a surgery that removes fat and enhances the actual shape of the body. It does not address skin imperfections such as saggy skin or cellulite. However, our approach at Austin Plastic Surgery Institute is to uniquely combine fat removal with advanced skin tightening with BodyTite, FaceTite, and Morpheus8 treatments to achieve superior outcomes. For clients with very lax skin, it may be advised to undergo a surgical procedure such as tummy tuck, thigh lift, neck lift, or a butt lift.
