The FaceTite cosmetic procedure smooths and firms sagging skin and wrinkles on the mid to lower face. The RF energy emitted by the device works to firm and tighten sagging skin. This minimally invasive treatment delivers results that were once only possible with much more invasive facial surgery.

Is your lower face making you look old?

Marked by sagging skin in the cheeks and jowls, facial laxity is a leading aesthetic concern—and one that can add years to your perceived age. Thankfully, FaceTite is a minimally invasive facial contouring treatment. FaceTite uses radiofrequency energy to tighten skin on the face and improve the appearance of mild to moderate laxity. It can be used to treat several concerns, including:

  • Fullness in the neck
  • Lack of neckline and jawline definition
  • Wrinkles and lines

FaceTite is a minimally invasive treatment, and can be done with minimal anesthesia. Just as importantly, there is no extended recovery time. If you're looking for a way to achieve a more youthful appearance, FaceTite may be the answer.

Overview

Patients who want to look younger and more vibrant can benefit from FaceTite at Austin Plastic Surgery Institute. This minimally invasive facial-contouring procedure defines the face and neck by reducing sagging skin, wrinkles, and jowls. Excess fat can also be removed for a more contoured look.

The results of this cutting-edge technique last for years and look very natural. The changes are not as drastic in most cases as a formal face and neck lift, but the jawline and neckline contour can be dramatically improved. Because it is done through 3 separate 3mm holes, it is minimally invasive and can be performed without a lengthy recovery period.

What is the science behind FaceTite?

FaceTite uses a technique called radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL). This method uses radiofrequency energy underneath the skin to liquify fatty tissue, making it much easier to remove. The heat also tightens the cords that connect the skin and the underlying muscle to produce enhanced definition of the neck and jawline.

Morpheus8 is done in conjunction and also delivers the radiofrequency. It is done using micro-needling to further enhance skin tightening. The FaceTite is a one-time procedure, however, it is recommended that the Morpheus8 be repeated in 4-6 weeks for optimal results. The Morpheus8 is done in our SkinCare Clinic.

The radiofrequency energy also remodels collagen protein and increases the production of new collagen and elastin in the skin tissues. This results in tighter, healthier skin, giving the patient a more vibrant and youthful appearance.

Am I a good candidate for FaceTite?

Patients with good skin quality who want to address sagging or wrinkles around the lower half of their face as well as their neck can benefit most from FaceTite. Better results are achieved in those with better skin quality. Additionally, patients who are at or near their ideal weight are the best candidates.

Can FaceTite be combined with other procedures?

Frequently, other procedures are done at the same time. Morpheus8 is always done to complement the FaceTite. In addition, fat grafting, lip implants, chin implants, and buccal fat pad reduction are also commonly performed. Facial contouring is a global procedure and each area of the face is addressed to optimize the patient’s facial proportions, harmony, balance and beauty. It can also be done when other unrelated procedures are being performed (breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction, etc.)

Your consultation for FaceTite

When you come in for a FaceTite consultation you will meet with your plastic surgeon. You are first asked what your goals are and what you expect from the procedure. The problem areas that have been indicated will be examined to ensure that they are suitable for treatment.

You will also be asked about your complete medical history, including your current health status, any allergies, any medications currently being taken, and any past procedures. The plastic surgeon will discuss FaceTite with you in detail, and you can ask any questions you may have.

If you have a history of herpes simplex, prescription antiviral medication may be necessary in conjunction with FaceTite. Smokers must quit smoking several weeks before their procedure.

Your FaceTite session

  • At the start of a FaceTite procedure, the selected treatment areas will be marked. Next, you will be sedated with oral IV sedation. In cases where other procedures are being performed, general anesthesia is recommended. Tumescent anesthesia will be administered. This will numb the areas to any pain, along with reducing the chance of bleeding. It will also separate the fat, leading to easier removal.
  • Three small incisions (3mm) are made- at the base of each earlobe and under the chin. The FaceTite wand consists of a cannula with an electrode at the tip below the skin, along with another electrode extending from the wand that is on the surface of the skin to carefully measure the temperature. This assures us that enough energy is delivered to cause tightening, but not too much so that we can avoid any injury or burn.
  • The radiofrequency energy will be delivered to the region, and then the liquified fat will be removed using the liposuction cannula. Once all contouring and tightening have been achieved, the incisions may be closed with a small suture that is removed within a week. Incisions are then dressed with a small steristrip. The procedure takes less than an hour from start to finish. You are asked to arrive about one hour prior so that topical numbing medicine and oral sedation can be given. You will need to have someone drive you to and from.

What is the FaceTite aftercare like?

Patients will be able to go home on the same day as their FaceTite treatment. By the next day, patient can perform mild activities. After 5-7 days of downtime, patients can return to their regular schedules.

Immediately following the FaceTite procedure:

  • A compression garment (jaw bra) will be applied to the affected areas. Patients will need to wear this garment during the early part of the recovery period. This will help speed up the recovery process by controlling post-treatment swelling.
  • Any discomfort can be addressed using Tylenol, Advil, or pain-control medication as prescribed. Drainage can occur at the incision sites for the first 24 hours, so dressings might need to be changed.
  • We recommend lymphatic massage to expedite the reduction of facial swelling.
  • Improvements will be visible immediately following the treatment. Results will continue to improve as new collagen and elastin are created, and the best results can usually be seen around six weeks after the treatment session.

How much does FaceTite cost?

The cost of a FaceTite procedure depends on several factors. The severity of the wrinkles, sagging, or excess fat can affect the overall price, as can the number of problem areas being corrected.
