Another method is radiofrequency with microneedling- Morpheus8, which can help to minimize jowls for a fresh, youthful look. FaceTite and Morpheus8 give the most dramatic results, but are minimally invasive procedures done in the OR. Other procedures however can give very good results as well.

How to achieve a slimmer, contoured chin without surgery?

If you desire a defined jawline but are struggling with jowls or a weak jawline due to age, weight, or genetics, we can help. The following non-surgical techniques can be applied when it comes to sculpting the chin and jaw:

  • By injecting fillers into the jawline, you can instantly create a more defined appearance.
  • Skin tightening procedures such as Morpheus8 are also popular for non-surgical jawline contouring as they can help to break down fat and improve skin elasticity, resulting in a firmer, more youthful jawline.
  • Neuromodulators such as BOTOX can also be used to achieve non-surgical jawline contouring by relaxing the muscles in the face. As a result, the jawline appears smoother and more contoured.

Overview of custom jawline contouring treatments

With non-surgical jawline contouring, Austin patients can achieve a more defined jawline and a more youthful appearance. Jawline-contouring procedures address issues affecting the look of the jawline, such as sagging skin, a double chin, and an overly square jaw.

At Austin Plastic Surgery Institute, we provide several non-surgical jawline contouring methods. These include Kybella, dermal filler injections, BOTOX or Dysport injections, Morpheus8 and Secret RF microneedling.

Your initial consultation and a treatment created just for you.

  • When you meet with your nurse injectors or physician, they will first ask you about your goals for the procedure. They will then examine your jawline and review your complete medical history, including allergies, current medications, and past procedures.
  • Once your physician has a thorough understanding of your aesthetic goals and your current state of health, they will go over your treatment options. They will answer any questions you may have. After this, they will recommend a treatment for your non-surgical jawline contouring. Finally, a date will be set for the chosen procedure.
  • Based on patient information from the consult, the physician will refer to doctors if aesthetic goals cannot be achieved with non-surgical procedures.
  • On the other side of this, surgeons will often refer patients to non-surgical skincare options if the patient is not a good candidate for surgery, or if they can achieve the desired result with non-surgical procedures.

KYBELLA

This injectable product is used to eliminate a double chin, resulting in a slimmer and more defined jawline. It is composed of a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, a substance naturally found in the body. Deoxycholic acid breaks down dietary fats.

During a session,  topical numbing cream is first applied, and then several Kybella injections are made in the submental region (the area below the chin). The product destroys excess fat cells, which are then gradually processed by the body, revealing natural results.

Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable products administered to restore volume to depressed regions of the jawline. Fillers create instant volume, which lasts for six months or longer depending on the chosen filler. Several fillers are available, including Juvéderm, Restylane, and Radiesse.

Fillers are administered through precise injections. Typically, treatment sessions are quick and convenient, allowing patients to return to their everyday schedule immediately. No recovery time or downtime is needed.

BOTOX or Dysport

BOTOX and Dysport are injectable neuromodulators. Though they are primarily known for their ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines, they can also be used to soften a square jawline. This process is known as masseter reduction.

The masseter muscle is a large muscle in the jaw region and is used for chewing. With overuse, it can become larger than normal. BOTOX and Dysport can relax this muscle by temporarily blocking nerve signals to it, allowing it to shrink again.

BOTOX or Dysport jaw reduction is quick and simple. Injections are delivered into the muscle, and then patients can go right back to their day. The results of these injections can last for three to four months, and maintenance sessions are available.

FaceTite + Morpheus8

FaceTite + Morpheus8 RF is a combination of minimally invasive internal RF coupled with external microneedling treatment used to tighten sagging skin on the jawline for a sculpted and defined look. The numerous small microneedles are passed over the skin of the area, safely penetrating the skin tissues at various depths, and radiofrequency (RF) energy is administered to the tissues. Both of these treatment modalities encourage the skin tissues to produce new collagen and elastin, leading to tighter skin.

A FaceTite + Morpheus8 RF session takes less than an hour and is done with anesthesia. The Morpheus8 is then repeated in the SkinCare Clinic 4-6 weeks later to optimize results. If only Morpheus8 is done it is less than 30 minutes and can be done in the SkinCare Clinic with less need for a more involved anesthetic. For Morpheus8 alone, three to four treatment sessions are typically required. Best results can be seen in around three months as new collagen and elastin continue to appear.
